Trekking to Pikey Peak and back, you will be essentially traveling through the beautiful landscapes of Nepal. Trekking along the lower altitudes of Himalayas, you will see a mix of culture and traditions preserved in old villages and towns. And once you reach the top of Pikey Peak, you will witness a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. The panoramic views of the Himalayan Range stunning beyond description. The experience you will gain is only reserved for a handful of trekkers who visit this region every year.

The route is less crowded than the popular routes of Nepal. You will trek through typical villages, terraced paddies, forests of wild flowers and mustards, and you can even bask under the forest of rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal. This program from Happy Yeti is a new trekking destination in the lower Khumbu - which makes it more interesting as you have chances of seeing the beautiful Everest and surrounding peaks.

Pikey Peak Trek Itinerary

As soon as you land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our staff and representative will pick you up and transfer to your hotel. You can spend the day in briefing about the trip and enjoy the evening in Kathmandu. Stay overnight at a  hotel.

The drive from Kathmandu to Phaplu is a good way to see some of the countryside. Driving along the winding road, the views of hills and foothills are great. If the weather is clear, you will even see wonderful views of the peaks ahead. The slow drive will bring you to Phaplu where you will stay ovrnight. Today you will visit a monastery called Chhuwang Gumba.
Road: 10h, night at lodge

After breakfast, leave Phaplu headed for Ringmo. The green hills and forests are a scenic respite for your trek today. The four-hour trek will take you through Sherpa villages and dense forests. The route is full of mountain views against green valleys. Once you arrive at Ringmo, take a break and enjoy the views, and then head to Thuptenchuling Gumba where you’ll stay overnight
Walk: 7h, night at lodge

After an early breakfast, we will start fresh with scenic views of the peaks ahead. First we will leave the monastery and then begin the trek along pristine landscape. At several points in the route, you will pass through villages with stone steps. You might want to take a break here and there to regain your energy. You might even capture some beautiful shots along the way. At later section of the trail today, we will do a gradual but easy ascent until we arrive at the village of Taktor. Check into a tea-house and sleep for the night.

We will begin after breakfast. Pack your bags and begin the trek along an ascending route out of Taktor. As soon as you begin the climb, you will enter a forest. In these woods, you have a chance to see some of the native inhabitants. If you come across monkeys, do not stop to feed them. Your walk for today will end as soon as you step out of the forest because the nearby village of Jose Bhanjyang is where you’ll be staying tonight. Nearby is the hilly pass of Jose-Bhanjyang - and you’re close to Pikey Base Camp.
Walk:5h, night at lodge

Today we will be reaching the top of Pikey and back to Pikey Base. Coming out of Jose Bhanjyang, we will head along the narrow rocky trail to the base of Pikey. At this altitude, you will see the wildlife native to the region, and also pass through some hamlets. You might even come across yak herds and herders who sell yak milk right off the udder! Trekking along, you will reach the base where we’ll stay overnight.

Start early before sunrise and hike to the top of Pikey Peak. Here, you’ll see a magical sunrise view from behind the peaks. We bask in satisfaction as we see Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Gauri Shanker, Kanchanjanga, Rolwaling Mountain Range, Langtang Mountain Range, and several other peaks. At this moment, you just gained an adventure point for life - a satisfying feeling second to none! From here, descend to the base and have breakfast. Then trek down to Goli, a place with a monastery where you will stay overnight. Today you will visit a cheese factory established by the Swiss government decades ago
Walk: 5h, night at lodge

The trek today is around seven hours from Goli to Bhandar. First we will walk through forests of birch and rhododendron. We will then trek through terraced farms and then a plantation of cardamom and alder before coming to Likhu Khola. Cross it, and walk further through villages and farms to arrive at Bhandar.
Walk: 6h, night at lodge

Begin the trek down from Bhandar after breakfast. You will meet fellow trekkers from several countries with whom you can exchange your stories as you trek along. Later in the day you will come to a windy pass between hills. Stop here briefly and head on the downhill trail until you arrive at Shivalaya. You will be here during early afternoon, and you’ll have plenty of time in the village. Hop into a lodge for the night.
Walk: 6h, night at lodge

After a leisurely breakfast at Shivalaya, we will begin the trek to Jiri. Tread carefully loving your knees; and don’t miss the spending panoramic views of the mountains. You will arrive at a place called Mali after a gradual ascent, where you will take a break and have tea if you like. From there begin your descend to the bottom of the valley until you arrive at the town of Jiri.

Walk: 5h, night at lodge

Start at leisure today. Take a shower or a morning coffee and later, have breakfast enjoying the views of the mountains. On a clear day you can clearly see a notable range of snowcapped peaks. After breakfast, pack your bags and begin the journey to Kathmandu. The drive is along a narrow hilly road; and you’ll stop a couple of times during the drive. Once at Thamel, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day on your own.


Road: 8h night in Kathmandu at Hotel 

For a free day in Kathmandu, we recommend going on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. Starting after breakfast, you will go to a few of the World Heritage Sites - Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Bauddhanath. You will have lunch probably at a rooftop restaurant in Bhaktapur Durbar Square - overlooking old temples and the busy square below. Later, return to hotel and spend the rest of the day shopping or as you see fit

As the program comes to a close, we will take you to the airport according to your flight plan.
